But Zelda had promised to stay back from the fray. To provide support with magic or even light arrows. Zelda had bitten her lip on several occasions wanting to be by his side, to lend a hand, but she stayed back as she had promised and used all the magic she had at her disposal. Link had already defeated Dark Link and was now face to face and alone with Ganon who had transformed into a magnificent beast, twelve feet tall, weighing half a ton, with skin has tough as boiled leather and thick red, black, brownish, orange fur, with two long bullish horns that curved inwards which formed sharp points about three feet in length from it's head. He carried a dark evil sword, longer than Link himself, that shimmered from it's dark energies and he could breath fire as well.
Zelda had gasped when Mega Ganon had reared up it's ugly head and had brought forth it's flame that could melt steel. Link had raised his Hyrulian shield in time, but she was afraid it would not be able to withstand the immense heat. Zelda screamed out when Link had been engulfed in the fire completely, covered in searing red hot heat, with a bolstering noisy roar. Mega Ganon stopped after a short time and snorted then laughed out loud as nothing was left, but black marks on the castle room floor and smoke. Zelda gripped the wall then slowly collapsed to the floor, her Love extinguished like the flame that had proceeded him.
However, when the laughing stopped and Zelda slowly looked toward the diminishing smoke, there was a figure clad in a red singed tunic. Link had smartly took Navi's advice and wore his red tunic which could withstand the heat from the Death Mountain Volcano underneath his familiar green tunic which had all but expired to the floor. Link threw his partially melted Hyrulian shield to the side. Navi had reinforced it with her life force and it protected him through it all. He rushed toward Mega Ganon slashing and thrusting his Master Sword with death quickening strokes and lunges. Mega Ganon could not keep up with him and was backed up to the far edge almost falling off to plunge into depths of the canyon.
However, when Link was about to strike the final blow and make the last big push, a shadowy figure began to appear from behind him and rushed towards Link's exposed and vunerable back. Zelda, with her many years of training as a Sheikah, had instinctively and without thinking, reached for another light arrow, but her hand only gripped air. She cursed herself that she had run out. Dark Link had rematerialized rushing at Link drawing it's dark sword being only a few feet away and smiled an evil grin, as it felt it's evil blade penetrating defenseless warm soft flesh, spearing it cleanly through. However, when it realized who it was he had stabbed, it was not his old foe Link, but Zelda herself. She had leaped out and put herself in harms way to protect her Love. A promise broken..., but a promise worth breaking. Link's attention went towards the scene unfolding behind him. Mega Ganon, pushed from the ledge into the canyon with a mighty last roar, was now not a concern.
Dark Link was upset it had not been his true adversary, but relished in the idea that it had been Link's true Love. He sickeningly kissed and licked the fresh blood dripping from her dieing lips from the sword wound he had inflicted on her and she dropped to her knees clutching the blade in her fading grasp. Dark Link nonchalantly put his black dirty boot to her chest and pushed her off his blade. She collapsed to the ground onto her back and side, her injuries too severe and just laid there as her warm blood spilled onto the cold stone floor filling the cracks. Dark Link kept his eyes down at her, chuckling to himself, happy with what he had done. So sweet the kill was. And best of all it would hurt Link and make him weaker for the ensuing fight. With Ganon gone, he would need every advantage he could get.
But when Dark Link finally took his gaze from the beautiful death scene before him and put them onto his old familiar foe, he was half expecting to see him uncontrollably crying, filled with sorrow and half falling over from grief. Instead, he found a figure who, although was crying with tears, was also filled with an uncontrollable RAGE that burned deep within him and shown around him as a blackish red aurora. Link had become something he did not want to become. With the blow that struck down his Love, he had transformed into Dark Link himself. He was not just a mirror copy as Dark Link was to him, he was the perfect copy of Dark Link, or the darker side of himself. However, unlike Dark Link who was magically created and who's only true desire was to kill Link, for no other reason, but that he was programmed to do so, Link had the burning desire of Revenge and Hatred and that is something that can not be programmed or controlled.
Before Dark Link was even able to let out a bigger grin for this new fight, Lynxx had rushed at him with a speed unbeknown to him before. The Master Sword clanged against his Dark Master Sword, which he was barely even able to bring up in time. The strikes were more powerful than before, swifter, more geared towards his destruction. Dark Link tried to side step him, but to no avail, Lynxx was not slowing his charge. He was no longer human, but a wild beast. It was as if Hell had opened up and spawned a demon from within it's dark grotesque bowels unleashing Hell On Earth.
Lynxx gave no quarter, no rest. He was an unyielding ball of hot white flame. Dark Link was thinking of running or even turning into a shadow and just disappearing, but Lynxx had learned of his dirty tricks and would have none of it. Dark Link had thought he saw an opening and feverishly lunged at his opponent, but Lynxx had feinted and jumped in the air thrusting his sword from behind himself, plunging it deep into the rear of Dark Link's neck through his shoulder blades and out through his chest. Dark Link collapsed to his knees and Lynxx grabbed onto the Dark Master Sword directing the tip into Dark Link's own stomach running him through and pulled it painfully out slowly, twisting it almost teasingly as well as his own Master Sword.
All Lynxx could see in his mind, which was an anguish of red hot pain, was Zelda's lifeless blooded body on the ground and Dark Link's evil smile. Lynxx climbed onto his unholy brother and literally tore him limb from limb, with strength he never knew he had. He continually bashed the back of Dark Link's head into the hard cold stone floor until the skull had been cracked and flattened like an egg with it's runny gooey warm contents spilling across the floor. As a last resort, he climbed off the lifeless mutilated dark corpse and picked up his Master Sword, chopping it's head off forever sealing Dark Link's fate.
Lynxx collapsed exhausted. His body aching from the transformation and his mind torn apart from his alter ego and the loss of his True Love. He crawled to her gripping her lifeless, but still warm body. He cradled her and cried into her chest and face, his tears covering her cheeks. He kissed her hoping, praying that it would bring her back. But this was no fairy tale... there were no happy endings for the Hero. Only pain, grief and suffering. The world was safe once again, but his life was forever changed.
There was nothing left for him to do. Nothing would bring her back. He held her there for what seemed like hours and then he finally stood up, with her still lovingly cradled in his arms and walked from out of the dark castle that had collapsed going back into town. He went to the church and laid her down next to him on the cold hard white marble floor of the hall. There he knelt by her side and prayed to the three goddesses of Din, Farore and Nayru for what seemed like hours... but they did not answer him.
Even though darkness had been destroyed, Hyrule itself was left in such disarray, he did not know how it could recover or how to restore it to it's former glory. The lake itself was polluted and most of the Zora's dead or dieing. Much of the forest had been destroyed with fires and the animals and the Kokiri dead or turned into slaves. The Gerudo valley with much of it's women had been turned into sex slaves, tortured and raped and now was nothing more than a lifeless dust bowl. And Link was a warrior, not a politician or royalty. If anyone could bring about the better change it would be Princess Zelda, but she too was now gone.
Upon hearing nothing but silence from the Gods, he silently cursed them for all the good they had done him. Just then the doors to the room to the Temple of Time opened up slowly, it's massive doors grinding and creaking by themselves. He looked up from what he thought was his unanswered prayers and saw the stone altar in the middle. He looked back towards his Love, SO Beautiful even in death and he knew what he had to do. He stood up slowly, his body aching from the wounds and the transformation as he grabbed his Master Sword, making his way into the Temple of Time. He shuffled towards the large stone centered into the middle of the room and stood before it. He put the sword over his head and then drove the tip down into the stone. It slid in slowly. With tears running down his face, the only way to get Zelda back and in effect save Hyrule, was to return to the time before and restart this all over again, hoping to avoid all disaster, even at the cost of his Loved One not loving him anymore... But at least she would be alive and "he" would remember them. With a final push the Master Sword rested into it's natural stone sheath and a familiar light shown from above blinding him in it's brilliance which tingled him to his core with radiant warmth. His vision faded as the last seven years would mean nothing to no one, but himself. He smiled however... you never know... maybe a love like that, which was SO Powerful and SO Wonderful, would blossom twice.....
This sad, but wonderful drawing gave me the inspiration for my short story and was drawn by CallistoHime.
OMG I cried. A lot.
But this is really awesome, not like (and, believe me, I'm really sorry to say that) your 13th Friday LoZ fanfictions where Zelda kills Link. (Again, I'm really really sorry to say that!)
I like happy endings too, but life does not always give them...
Thank you for the warm comments, but my Friday the 13th ones are to be something different than the norm. Most LoZs end happily, mine do not always. There are a few like that and I will be making more, you just wont know until you read them. Was the Friday the 13th one written poorly or the story was just not to your liking? Also I cleaned up my No Second Chances story. And that story was not exactly happy either.
Well, it's different: I mean, in No Second Chances Zelda's Death was an accident, indeed in your Friday the 13th Zelda KILLS Link voluntarily because she does not love him anymore or because she met someone else!
AND THAT IS VERY DISTURBING!
However, they are nonetheless well-written stories.
Excellent tragedy, I'd like for you to go over it, there's some grammatical issues, as it's Beast Ganon along with Hylian, not Hyrulean, and it's the Goron Tunic, not a cape, you're thinking A Link to the Past my friend.
Still...you have earned my fave!
However, I do know I write for the subject matter or story I am trying to represent; love, compassion, hatred, sorrow, etc., more so than actually trying to be 100% accurate in LoZ lore. I more or less use the LoZ as a back drop and not LoZ as the main standing point. In fact most things, besides the basics in most of my stories; (Although apparently Hylian Shield is pretty basic. Hahaha! ) such as the Master Sword and Green Tunic etc., not every thing is going to be perfect.
Hopefully this wont deter you from reading my other stories, just be prepared for what I had said above. Enjoy and thanks for faving!
