It was a bright warm sunny day in Hyrule Field with not a single white cloud in the crystal blue sky to otherwise blemish it's perfectness and in the distance Hyrule Castle could be seen in all it's glory shining and glittering even from a far, it's many tall marbled ivory white spires ascending towards the Heavens above.  Many troops were stationed in the calm emerald green fields just standing there on guard... watching... waiting... they were formed into one massive rectangle with many rows of men with a banner held here and there distinguishing each designated troop, the flag of Hyrule being flown proudly and flapping in the cool breeze.

There were the normal troops of the Hyrulean Guard that were dressed in their regular chain mail and armed with some of the best weapons and shields in the lands.  Swords that could cut through regular steel, shields that could with stand attacks from armor piercing tipped arrows, sharp swords and also the heavy bashing blows of a mace or flail, while some carried long tipped spears or crossbows or long bows that had both flame arrows at the ready and bodkin arrows for piercing chain mail and plate mail.

There was also a battalion of Royal Guards present and who presided over the regular Hyrulean Guard as Captains and Lieutenants.  These soldiers, the nobility of Hyrule, specifically picked and specially trained due to extraordinary feats of strength, fighting prowess and magic ability, wore thick heavy plate armor that was polished and shined brightly making them look "holier than thou" and which were practically invincible from anything, but the most powerful weapons and or magics and they wielded the best weapons period!  Plus both their armor and their weapons were blessed by Princess Zelda herself making the best armor and weapons that much more formidable in both defense and offense.  The rest of the Royal Guard, two battalions worth, were back at the castle protecting the princess.  Then there was the mounted cavalry division of Royal Guards on horse back with lances, swords and shields.  Even their war horses were covered in thick plate armor that glistened in the sun and they had a sharp pointed horn protruding from the top of each of their heads which were used for spearing an unlucky opponent, but it also gave them the mythical appearance of Unicorns... long and forgotten magical creatures which it was hoped would unnerve their opponents.

Out in the field they even had the local militia who were volunteers and who were promised compensation for their efforts.  They were just a rag tag group of young to middle aged men who were lucky enough if they even had boiled leather for armor and or wooden shields.  Some had crude swords and axes, a few even had fine weapons, but the majority had what looked like and pretty much were regarded as "farming tools"; scythes, pitch forks, pick axes and the like.  But they were still good enough to kill and this is what the Army of Hyrule needed and wanted right now.  And most only had regular clothing, some even looking like rags.

And on top of that there were small bands of Gorons, Kokiries and Sheikahs.  Each with their own preferred types of weapons; Gorons with usually what was at hand including uprooting whole trees and using them as massive hammers, huge boulders that could be thrown as projectiles and even themselves, while the Kokiries generally favored slings that hurled small hard stones and sharp daggers that could be used lightning fast and short swords,  and finally the Sheikahs who generally wore long sharp tiger claws on their wrists and or used long staffs and who would also toss throwing knives.  All told the whole army combined totaled over 200,000 strong, not counting the fairies that were floating about and that would give up their tiny lives if needed and who also weilded fairie magic, with the bulk coming from the Hyrule Guard itself, second to the militia, than the Gorons and Kokiries and the Royal Guard themselves and finally the Sheikahs.  With this many troops amassed you would think a battle would be ragging or starting shortly with the opposing armies on the other side of the battle field sizing each other up and yet... nothing, just silence from the front.  The men were ordered to keep a diligent eye and an open ear out, but all they saw was the swaying of the tall green grass with beautiful flowers that looked like multicolored gems and the bright yellow sun high in the early afternoon sky and a scattered green leafy tree or two here and there some even bearing life giving fruits.  It was actually quite a beautiful day today, a shame there was going to be blood staining the landscape shortly...

They had been preparing for this for about a week for the ensuing battle, but they were a little over confident.  Although they had been told their enemy was strong, they were sure they could still defeat it.  Emissaries had been sent to the other races asking for help and they had agreed and had sent some of their best fighters and magic wielders which had bolstered the already large Hyrulean Army.  They surely had numbers on their side and their Paladins and High Clerics were some of the very best in all the lands.  People of great skill and strength and quite frankly even the regulars in the Hyrulean Guard was nothing to sneeze at.  The militia was a different story, however.  These men were fighting to feed their families and make better lives for themselves and their loved ones.  Some were ex soldiers, their contract being up and they had left or they were too old or those that had quit and or were kicked out, while others were adventurers or bar room brawlers and still others who were just ordinary people like farmers and merchants who just wanted and or needed a little extra cash.

They had been waiting there since dawn.  They had assumed the enemy would have shown their face by now, but they had not.  Soon however, off in the distance above the visible horizon over the hill came the dark and ominous presence of their enemy.  Dark clouds were rolling in, thick and as dark as soot that strangled the otherwise peaceful and untarnished blue sky... a storm was brewing... Then a single figured could be seen.  The Hyrulean Army looked towards the individual and wondered where the rest of his military force was at.  Was this a trap and a huge army was waiting to ambush them some where else or was this an envoy from the enemy declaring the terms of surrender or peace...

This one figure carried nothing, no weapons of any kind.  It also did not appear to wear any type body armor, heavy or other wise, although he may of been wearing strong linked chain mail woven underneath his clothing...  But from a distance though and at the present moment it was hard to tell who or what it was.  People squinted to see and shielded their eyes with their hands to block the bright sun rays.  He walked with a rather large gate, covering ground quickly, methodically.  He was neither rushing nor taking his time.  He had an air of confidence about him that could not be matched.

The men grew restless and the Royal Guard told the men to stay in place and to prepare for battle.  Only they knew of the true nature of the Beast.  A selfless act, a soul sold to save a kingdom, a broken heart and then the cruel torture of a true innocence is what had created this abomination that was before them now.  And both the Royal Guard and Princess Zelda were to blame.  Everyone else however were unaware of the grievous act that had occurred previously, but it did not matter to this new enemy... if you got in it's way you were dead.  But the rest of the assembled army thought this was going to be a cake walk if this was all it was going to be, just a solitary opponent... just an ordinary human being... Even the militia was scratching their heads wondering why they had amassed such an army, the reports from the Royal Representatives told of tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands if not more coming to fight and claim Hyrule, to even destroy it.  Even the Gorons, the Kokiries and the Sheikahs just looked at one another and shrugged, although the Sheikahs with their own special training sensed something not quite right about this battle and or this creature.  Maybe the real enemy was going to pounce from the eastern or western sides, but the Royal Guard knew this is all that was coming, or so they hoped... But as he drew closer they could see that in his wake, all the pleasing jade colored grass and assorted pretty spring flowers had wilted and withered away.  Even the scattered trees that had plentiful full green leaves soon turned to dark husks of their former selves, their tree branches turning dry and rotted making it look like they were the hands of skeletons reaching up towards the Heavens pleading for forgiveness and or salvation.

Link, wearing familiar garb, but totally in unfamiliar dark hues of black and grays, looked onward as he walked towards the massive amount of troops waiting for him.  He had no idea how many there were.  He could not count them at this distance nor would it even matter.  But he could feel their energies, their inner pulses.  Most were practically nonexistent as if they were easily extinguishable flames from a small candle that could be blown out at any moment.  However, there were a few pockets that showed up that looked more like the flicker of flames from a fire and he sensed they were more powerful than the rest, the Royal Guard no doubt, but they were scattered among the denizens of the weak.  He owed them special courtesy... He was wondering if that whore of a princess Zelda was here to assume control of her troops and to over see the battle, but he doubted it and she would have had the highest energy signature of them all... her and that copy cat doppelganger... created in accordance to himself to match his every likeness in both appearance and personality... before Link had turned anyway... so that it would make it seem as if this new Link had never left and was the original and their "Savior of Hyrule", but in the end, he was nothing more than the new lover to the Princess out of convenience and also a mere puppet on strings to the Royal Court... strings he would soon be cut and severed from forever...

Link or "Dark Link", as he was now known by Zelda and the Royal Guards, was still walking towards them.  The army assembled here had looked like ants that were ripe for the stomping when he first saw them.  As he got closer and saw them more to their general size, he still thought of them as ants.  So weak and helpless these Hylians and Humans were.  The Kokiries that he sensed also were not too much of a problem and their Nature magics would not pose a problem to him since where ever he treadith, things rotted away and died.  The Gorons however... that was a different matter.  He could also sense greater powers from them and they had Earth magics that their mystics and shamans could wield and shock troopers with their massive fists and powerful muscles and bodies made of rock that would also prove to be a problem... and the mythical Sheikahs with all their tricks and skills would also pose a threat and of course there were the little fairies, but much like the Kokiries, the majority of their magics would be useless, however their instant life giving reviving ability might get a little annoying... he would just have to make sure that those who would have the chance to come back to life would not want to or regret it if they had..., but soon he would have his own army and that army would keep them preoccupied...

Link got closer to his quarry as if he did not have a care in the world.  He saw the Royal Guard; great swords or long swords and tower shields for the Holy Paladins and great two handed war hammers or maces or flails with shields for the High Clerics, the supposedly purest of the pure.  They had the power to cure wounds and in terms of the High Clerics, could even resurrect the dead, but it took a while and a lot of energy spent concentrating on doing so.  The church had a funny way of making sense for what they did.  They were so holy the Clerics did not want to draw blood from the enemy, but they had no qualms torturing someone to death for weeks on end burning them and pummeling them with their blunt weapons; crushing fingers and toes, shattering rib cages, denting in chest cavities, breaking knees and elbows and bashing in skulls... all of which he had been privy to and had endured himself not too long ago... again and again and again...  They were ordering the crossbowmen into three ranks and two rows.  The first rank was to kneel, the second was to stand over them and the third were to aim over the shoulders of the second and over the heads of the first.  Once their missiles had been deployed they would back track and the second row, same as the first, would be in their ready positions and fire and then retreat as the first row by that time had reloaded their crossbows for another flurry of projectiles.  Further behind them were the archers who would fire off waves of flame and bodkin arrows.

Link was surprised he did not see any siege weapons here.  He figured they knew the power he had, they would have brought out the big guns... a shame really... maybe they knew it would all be pointless... but then why sacrifice all her troops in a desperate action... he only wanted HER... was she that selfish and self indulged in who she thought she was?  Link just smiled to himself as he got closer and the first volley of arrows from the longbow men were shot into the sky and soon they arced and began their downwardly decent towards him.  He could not even count the arrows in the sky they numbered so many and they seemed to even blot out the sun.  It mattered not though; as the evil and powerful blackish and reddish auroras engulfed him like red hot untouchable flames in an upwardly motion from his feet to his head, dispersing after a meter or so from off of him... everyone there finally realized, Hell had come to Hyrule.....
This is a teaser short story for an upcoming short novel. I wish I could make it into a manga, since I will be treating this as an anime and not a normally written book, or at the very least more outrageous than my normal stories. Also this may be mature or at least come with a warning since it will be pretty dark in nature, but we will see. This is only a taste of what is to come... Enjoy...

How did you only get some words in bold and not the whole thing?
